The
Evening Star Building is a trophy-class asset that is listed
in the National Register
as a Historic Landmark. The Evening Star Building’s views,
location, and image are superior to those of other Washington,
D.C. buildings. The building was originally constructed in 1898
in order to house the offices for the Evening Star newspaper. The
building was completely renovated and expanded in 1989 to its current
condition.
The Evening Star Building has an opulent
Beaux-Arts style façade
reserved for the grandest public buildings of the day. A closer
study of the intricate detail in the hand-carved marble scrollwork
and enormous ornamental friezes affirms the building’s status
as an architectural and historical treasure.
